These courses include introductory biology, animal diversity, human biology, human anatomy and physiology, microbiology, chemistry, natural science, environmental science, science and society, ecology, evolution, and several organismal-based courses. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is a non-profit zoo located near Powell in Liberty Township, Delaware County, Ohio, United States, north of the city of Columbus. Prior to joining Franklin University, I taught and developed a variety of science courses at several central Ohio universities and colleges with programs focused at both majors and non-majors. I received my PhD from the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology at The Ohio State University with an emphasis in molecular systematics, phylogeography, and conservation biology. ![]() I teach a number of different science courses including biology, chemistry, environmental science, and general education science at Franklin and Urbana University. The zoo currently is celebrating the centennial of its Mangels-Illions Grand Carousel. I also serve as Lead Faculty for several Natural Sciences courses, and courses at all academic levels. At the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, a 1 ticket buys a trip spanning 100 years of central Ohio history. The Zoo also manages The Wilds, a 10,000-acre conservation center and safari park in eastern Ohio. Sensory Maps The Zoo offers maps that identify sensory-friendly locations to help families plan their day at the Zoo. Maps are also available by visiting Guest Relations and the ticket booths at the Zoo. They care for over 10,000 animals and around 600 different species.
